You need to have a conversation with the parents and children at the same time. With a child young enough that they can't read, you need to devise a pictorial way of showing them when they can and can't come in, they need to knock, and you need a lock on your door. Keep specific hours.

Also, I would speak to your charge’s parents & let them know of the situation.
They should not be allowing their child to go to your room while you are off-duty.

Come up with a sign system on your door. Green means ok to knock and come in for a visit. Red means you would like privacy…… or something similar.

Recently I started a position as a live in nanny.. I work 9-5 Monday to Friday. This position is in different state than I’ve lived for most of my life and haven’t had a chance to make many friends yet. Sometimes after work I would stick around bc they would ask me if I wanna join dinner etc. However most recently I feel like I’m working 12 hrs a day. My younger charge (5yo) keeps coming to my room to say hi/give me goodnight kiss/bring me a toy. I used to be okay with this but his visits are getting longer and longer and sometimes I have to send him away and he cries.
How do you separate your free time away from the family while in the house? If I go out after work it’s easier. This is my first live in position after live out positions and I’m starting to regret my decision. What sounded like a fun new experience is becoming really stressful.
