Just stopping by to let you know how refreshing it is to see a family who truly appreciates their Nanny & all that she had brought to your family.

You sound like fabulous employers OP!

The best goodbye is never saying goodbye. I’ve remained incredibly close to all but one of my former nanny-families. Visits, birthday parties, dinners, FaceTime calls, holidays - everything. Plus I’m available for emergencies and the kids aren’t traumatized. I truly love the kids and I think they’ve all benefitted from knowing that their love and trust in me was well founded. It definitely helps the last day when the kids could say to Nanny, “okay, I’ll see you on Friday!”.

You sound like a great employer and parent, OP. What you’ve come up with is great! I’m sure she’ll be touched

My most cherished gift from a family was a silver frame with a photo of my charge and inscribed, “Thank you for helping me grow. I love you, Nanny”.

Our beloved nanny will be leaving us in 2 weeks to start her own family. We will, of course, be giving her a generous monetary gift. What else would make a “goodbye” special? In addition to money, I’m putting together an album with her and the kids, my (6 yr old) is making her a “book”, I plan to make her a full breakfast with flowers on her last day so she can relax. It doesn’t seem enough for the love this amazing person has brought to our family. Ideas of what else we can do is welcome!
