We have multiple kids, so in the past couple of years, we’ve had to pay over stipend and advertise it to even get an au pair to talk to us. With all the new laws on paying au pairs minimum wage going into affect, and room and board not being much of a deduction from that, I would definitely pay minimum wage at least - since they can later ask for back pay.

Yes that I know. I will plan on paying more and trying to sign what’s reasonable

Then you decide what you’re willing and able to pay, but most HF would advise against advertising it. You want an AP who picks your family as the best fit, not an AP who picks the highest paying HF.

I disagree.

We advertise it. We end up with a ton of candidates to choose from and have gotten excellent rematch APs without even having to hit the rematch pool. Great Girls looking to get out of shitty situations.

I want the best candidate and being transparent with the compensation and benefits package ensures that.

They are WOMEN. FFS.

We've always treated the stipend as a weekly minimum and pay federal minimum wage. So basically anything over 27.5hrs is paid and minimum wage. We also pay OT at 1.5x for any hours between 40-45.

Our kids are in private school 5 days a week and our preschooler in 3 days a week. If our AP had to basically do DL schooling with my kids I'd probably up it to $10/hr because that'd a bit too much to ask of an AP IMO.

Right now our AP is basically a driver since it's a hike to school.

We pay the $200 a week. Since they area living with you, they don't need a "living wage" since they have none of these living expenses. It's essentially spending money.

The minimum is set up. It’s called minimum bc it’s the least you have to pay. It is not the set amount or the maximum.

We pay the stipend. Always have. Extras and vacations, of course.

I would pay the stipend, double the education credit, and provide a dedicated car.

How much would you pay for 1 child, remote schooling, 40 hours, second grader?
