Nanny here. What I typically do is that morning nap happens in a baby carrier during an outing so toddler gets their need for activity met. Afternoon nap I try to get toddler and baby on the same schedule so I can focus on teaching baby to nap in the crib at that time.

Yes to the above.

As to your other question regarding leaving the toddler alone while putting baby down or bringing the toddler with her, it depends on the temperament of your toddler. My toddler charge happily comes with me while I do a short pre-nap routine with the baby.

You need to work on putting the baby to sleep drowsy but awake and let them fall asleep by themselves. Assuming baby is napping three times a day I would be ok with one nap being in a stroller so Nanny can take the 2 yo out for a walk or to a park for part of the day.

I am the MB but nanny has never worked with baby (youngest was 12 months) so will be looking to us for routine. We have a 6.5, 2.5 and 4 month old. I am trying to.think about nap time routines.

Baby naps at 10am. When DH and I are together, one takes older to play and someone does baby nap. Sometimes baby naps in crib but mostly on someone. When I am solo, I nurse and hold baby while playing with toddler. I want nanny to be able to put baby down in crib but how to do good nap routine with toddler? Any suggestions or ideas? Do you take toddler with you or put her in safe room to play while you do baby routine?

We are working on baby nap so she will go down for a nap and not need to be held but it is not going well.
