I personally would correct this. I’ve had babies call me mommy and while I knew that was the only word in their vocabulary, I still would correct it lol “no, Mandy. I’m Mandy”. I just don’t want the parents to overhear it feel any way but most importantly, I’m not their mother and they need to know that. I’ll love, hug and kiss up on them all day long but nope, still not your mother.

14.48 here. There’s no way I’d allow any charge to call me mom or introduce me as their mother. I have a place in their life, but it’s not to spant their mother.

A former employer told me to call myself “an educational consultant” so I could write-off my car/gas and supplies.

These are pretty funny.

I call my kids "cost center #1" and "cost center #2."

I call the nanny "the boss," as in, if a kid asks me if s/he can do something while the nanny is on the clock, I just say, I don't know, "ask the boss." On the weekends, I'm "the boss." I enjoy wielding my immense powers, bwahaha.

I offer "disaster preparedness professional" as an alternative career title for a nanny. Seriously, though, I do think nannies have very transferable skills in that they are always looking/thinking/planning ahead, and in particular they're visualizing what could go wrong and how to nudge the charges toward behaviors that set them up for success. There is a lot of strategy, logistics, and human psychology (adults aren't that different, honestly), involved.

I leave it to the kids to introduce me. Sometimes it’s as their teacher, sometimes as their nanny, sometimes as family.

Do you have a fancy / creative way to describe yourself without saying nanny?
I say I’m a “Minors’ Activity Manager” sometimes just to see puzzled faces hehe
