Let her advertise and see whether the people who respond fit her idea of a great nanny.

Either she’ll find a gem who will leave after 6-12 months for better pay, or she’ll realize she can’t afford nanny care.

I pay $15/hour in Kensington. To a high school kid to come by for 3 hours three times a week. More of a sitter than a nanny.

She isn’t that far off.

Also 4 hours a day sounds more like a babysitter than a nanny.

Really you think someone would take a job for $13 a hour in Fredericksburg..... I told her she should probably have her coworker make a profile on care.com but even then I still feel like the minimum would be $15 And I still feel like they also need to include some type of benefit package if they want someone long-term but I do feel like since a lot of families are working from home still they may think since I’m around the house and why do I need to give a nanny any type of care package which I think is wrong to think that way because I’m sure they are all still getting their benefits even though they are working from home.

Maybe a new live-in nanny (no experience or education), no deductions for room and board, use of a car, and guaranteed hours? Then $13/hour and no benefits might work, but only if the schedule stays firm so the nanny can do online classes and/or have another job.

Otherwise, she needs to consider either a share or in-home daycare.

Post 12/31/2020 16:12     Subject: A family wants a nanny for 13 an hour

So I just got a text message from my cousin who said that her coworker was interested in hiring a nanny 4 to 6 hours daily. So I told her I would make a post on here to try to help her out so of course I asked her a series of questions to get a better idea of what she was looking for. My cousin then text me back and says that her friends price range is between $13-$14 an hour but she hasn’t thought about a benefit package because she doesn’t know what that looks like. So I responded and said I can tell you right now no one will work for $13 an hour especially if there is no benefit package. So I told her to tell her friend her best bet would probably be a in-home daycare if she wants to stay paying low weekly rates. They live in Fredericksburg Virginia however I don’t know what some parents are thinking when They decide to have a nanny come to their house. The minimum is 18 and I still think that is very low but she definitely won’t find anybody for $13 an hour. If I am wrong comment below otherwise I think I’m pretty accurate when I say she will have a hard time finding someone
