I wish you were correct but that wasn’t our experience with just two kids! The lowest rated applicant was $25. We went with a great nanny for $27.

My experience was in line with $20-$22. Sure, I met some people who wanted to charge $27/hr., I just didn’t hire them.

Where did you find $20-22 around here for three kids? Honest question. We started looking at $20 to $25 for one child and didn’t find anyone decent.

I asked friends who had nannies to ask nanny if they knew anyone interested. This wasn’t for three kids though. Obviously that is tougher, because someone could make $20-$22 for one or two kids and that’s less work.

As with any service, you get what you pay for. Due diligence required, obviously.

Find the person you want, and you ask for her rate.

We pay $32 for an infant and toddler in Los Angeles. Consider yourselves lucky in NOVA if you find a nanny for for $25!

For three kids?! You couldn’t even find that for an undocumented non-English speaking nanny here in rural Virginia!

Assuming she will sometimes be responsible for the older child somestimes you need to include all 3 in the pay rate. He will have sick days, snow days, spring break and summer off ?

OP here-I’m hoping for both. Someone the kids will have fun with and someone who will keep them safe. I don’t need the nanny to educate them, but I’d like the nanny to model kindness, empathy, and love.

What kind of person are you hoping to find? A basic custodian who will probably just keep your children safe, or someone who will instill solid values and good behavior?

We live in Fairfax and am considering a nanny for my 3 children-ages 4, 2, and 6 months. The 3 year old attends preschool 3 days a week. The 2 year old will start preschool in the fall. We would ask the nanny to help with preschool transportation but largely s/he will have the 2 year old and baby to care for since the oldest will be in school. We will provide the car for the nanny. What is a fair hourly rate? This is all new to us.
