Are you sure she wasn’t just surprised that you didn’t tell her because she would have helped you? You know how people are - “oh my god, you should have told me - I would have brought soup!”

I have been a Nanny to a family for eight yrs overall caring for an eight yr old boy & his little four yr old sister.

The boy has a health condition that could be mortal if he contracts Covid-19.

Anyway, I was laid off when his school shut down & was told until schools reopened, there was a successful vaccine, etc. that they would not be using me for awhile which I totally understood.
Since March, I usually videochat w/my former charges.

Last evening, during our monthly chat their Mother had asked me how I am doing.
Somehow I disclosed to her that I had contracted Covid about a month ago through my home from college daughter (I think, but do not know for sure.)
The Mother had texted me about that time over something, I cannot recall + had asked me if me and my family were doing well and I had responded that yes, we were.

So when I told her about us having the virus, she looked shocked, then mentioned that I had not disclosed it earlier.

My question:
Since she had told me that they likely would not need my caregiving services for awhile, even encouraging me to seek another family since she offered to give me an excellent reference....was I in a way obligated to inform her?

It just would have been weird when she wished me and my family good health for me to just blurt out that we had Covid.
It was a general “How are you doing?” text.
