We were really hoping she would cancel her trip as the whole thing felt so selfish and irresponsible. She didn't and we are paying her for her 10 day quarantine ( 8 working days fully paid). She has gotten a negative Covid test and is coming back on Wednesday.
She is now flying to an even more covid ridden state for Christmas. She is using all of her PTO so will be gone from the 23rd- 4th fully paid. Do we really need to pay her for another 10 day quarantine? I want her to at least have to use her PTO ( it would have to be pre- earned) for this second trip. Everyone else I know has canceled travel/ family plans ( including us- we did a zoom Thanksgiving).
I really like her and think she is being careful about Covid here but ugh- just paying for so much care we aren't getting and it feels like too much.
Why would you pay her to not work? This is PTO and unpaid time if she runs out of PTO.
