you say you want to bring her to the US for just a couple of months? frankly, the easiest thing is that as a German citizen she can visit the US up for 90 days. you can have her as a guest at your house, pay her cash for the time she babysit and she can be a tourist and enjoy the US. make sure she gets travel insurance. obviously, because she is coming just for two months as a tourist, this is an agreement between the two of you, she would not be allowed to work

So my husband has been working in Germany for the last 5 years and during that time we had a wonderful babysitter and now would like to bring her with us to the States for a couple of months. Has anybody done that before? We don't want to pay for a company, since we already have our match and the Visa situation is a bit difficult, since the girl can't stay for a whole year. Do you know for what Visa she could apply?

Are you moving back temporarily or permanently? Are you us or german citizens? Does she have any record with the us?

We are US citizens and will only be moving there for a few years. She has never been in the US and has german citizenship

Then you may qualify, if the expected move out of the us will be back to Germany. Look at the links posted above. Good luck!

If she meets thr requirements of the program, bringing her over as an au pair may be your easiest and cheapest bet. There's no way around paying the au pair agency since they sponsor the visa, not the host family. She can stay for 2 years.

There is a way for US citizen to bring the nanny from overseas. It will be B-1 visa with annotation. Start below, and then research from there...

Last I knew, it was only available if there was a government clearance or something similar involved?
