OP this may be too late, but have you tried to flip the baby yourself? If you can get access to a pool, do handstands in it. Lay upside down on the couch, meaning your head is on the floor with your Knees on the couch. Or even if you have a deep bath tub get in it and lay your head on the bottom with your butt in the air. Have your husband massage your belly with lotion and gently rub your belly in a circular motion for a long time.

You knew this date was set so why didn't you ask weeks ago? Personally, I wouldn't mind but I think you are being dishonest in asking a week before!
I told her the day I found out. Baby was not supposed to be breech. But she is being stubborn. Nanny stayed late the week when I had the version to try and flip her and she was at my house to hear that it did not work. Three days later I scheduled the section (well the hospital did). Not sure why you think I am being dishonest or waited. Scheduler called me, I asked nanny 2 hours later.
Glad my nanny does not assume the worst in me.

I would not be mad at all. As a nanny, I try to do whatever I can to be flexible for good employers. My nanny family just had a baby and I offered to be whatever help I could. I would 100% be fine with switching the day. The only thing that might be an issue is if she had plans.

It's Columbus Day (or Indigenous People's Day, depending on where you live.) It's not like you're asking her to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving. Give her as much notice as possible, so she won't make other plans. It shouldn't be a big deal since you are offering her an alternate day off.

She took the job knowing I was pregnant and going to deliver. Baby will most likely be delivered via C-section, which is scheduled for 10/12. I did not have a choice in date, as it is hospital and dr. availability. In her contract, she has specific holidays off (federal ones). So, she has 10/12 off. It would be amazing if she would work that day and then we can "trade" for another random day off. Totally understand if she already has plans, but how inappropriate is it to ask if she wouldn't mind switching?

Thanks all. I asked her before she left today (we are on West Coast) and she was happy to help and had no issues with switching. Trying so hard not to have any "creep" or changes that would make her feel under valued. Really helped to hear that people would not be upset by the request. Also made it clear that if she wanted the day it was no big deal but she was more than happy to help and was willing to move hours to come later and stay later to make sure we have night cover age if the procedure went long / had issues and DH could not get home.

It just happened to me when my wonderful employer went into early labor. Of course I had no problem letting go of my weekend to move in with my adorable charge while they were in the hospital. I’ve rearranged my schedule a couple times since the birth of my sweet new charge.
I am sure you’re nanny will understand and make the adjustment.

Nanny here. I wouldn't get mad if my dear MB ask me to trade my day; mainly in such a special day. Of course, I would very happy to help thinking I will be holding such a cute little baby on the way soon . I love my employers so much; they always appreciate me and I love my 2 little ones deeply.
