I cannot believe your employer actually wanted you to work while sick.

Especially now w/the Coronavirus + all.
It’s like she is putting her child(ren’s) health in jeopardy!

Every parent who employs a Nanny should have a back-up childcare plan in place in case their Nanny falls ill.

Yep and grandma can wait. I’m sure if the nanny was going to the dentist and doctor and visiting her family this MB wouldn’t think she was being ‘careful’...

I'd be fine with dentist and doctor as long as the offices were careful and the family situation would depend. Mother or father or a sibling or both parents living in a unit and being careful would be fine. But I am not here to dictate how others live their lives and this is also why we have not had a nanny since March (despite paying her in full through July at which point she took another job).

He did put them off until they were literally emergencies.

With no nanny and two jobs we are seeing only grandma who lives alone and doesn't see anyone. Good luck finding someone more careful than us, honestly. *smh*

I’ve been under the weather for about a week and continued working at my employer’s request. Things got progressively worse over the weekend, so I went to my doctor on Monday. She *thinks* it’s a bad upper respiratory infection as I get one 2-3 times a year and usually around this time. Of course she ordered a Covid to be safe and I’m waiting for the results.

I was honest with MB and let her know that I was tested and the doctor said I shouldn’t come to work until the results came in. She was very upset, asked if my doctor was overreacting. I explained there is no way to know without the test results. I was trying to do the right thing, she has elderly parents living with her and I’d never want to jeopardize their health.

She is super angry and frustrated that I won’t be there and feels she has to call everyone who’s been in contact with them. They are constantly for dinner, drinks, work, get togethers, shopping and the kids have friends over most of the week. Meanwhile, I have groceries delivered and go to work and home. I’ve done this since March and take every precaution.

I know that *I* did the right thing by letting her know, but she’s acting as if I put her in an awful situation.

MB’s - any advice on how to handle this and what kind of policy to set moving forward? I think I’ve used 3 sick days in the last 5 years, so not like I’m
