Tell them at the end of your shift, "While I've loved getting to know you and enjoyed playing with Sam and Fred, I've decided to get a job closer to home. My last day will be October 2nd. I'm going to miss you all so much."

Make sure you have one job before leaving the old one.
Make sure you're prepared for them to ask you to give them until the end of October, or the end of 2020.
Know what you'll say if they offer you more money to stay. "Thank you, I'm flattered but it's not about the money, it's the commute."
Know what you'll say if they offer you gas money or a car stipend or something.
And be prepared that they MIGHT tell you not to bother coming back at all.

Two weeks is more than enough. A month for a nanny is ridiculous.

Exactly. Just tell them but offer to give adequate notice that you will keep in touch.

I am a nanny also. Just be honest. At the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you. Your boss would do the same! Best of luck!

I’m a part time student as well as a nanny and need to find something closer to home. How do I go about telling my employer this? I’m nervous about how she will react. Any advice is appreciated.
