Yes, we are ALL wearing masks in the main part of the house and when in the same room with her — to protect both our nanny and us (my spouse and multiple members of her family all work outside the home).

You should have made this decision before hiring her. I would never in a million years accept a position that required me to wear a mask inside a family’s house. If you ask this of her, don’t be surprised if she is completely turned off and look for a job elsewhere.

+1. If she is starting right away after working for another household, it would be prudent to all wear masks for two weeks or have parents and nanny have negative covid tests.

I recently started a job out-of-state, as a live-in. Anytime I was in the main part of the house or they came into my apartment, we all were masked. I’ve now tested negative (and I’m more paranoid than they are), so no more masks when it’s just the household.

Insane and no. If you don’t like your nanny’s social distance attitude don’t hire her.

No. It’s too uncomfortable and babies need to see facial expressions and words formed. That said, we have an incredibly cautious nanny outside. She lives alone and only sees us and grocery store (masked) once a week. We do the same.

It goes both ways
If you want her to wear a mask all day
By all means you wear one all day as well
Only fair

No, nannies do not need to wear masks in the house. If they wear one, you should wear one all day as well.

I’m a nanny and not required to wear a mask in the house, also not required to wear one when out walking.

Do you ask your nanny to wear a mask in the house? We have a nanny starting and aren’t sure if we should ask this of her.
