I'm not sure what it looks like from the family side. I assumed that was Care.com checking families, but it there is a toggle option then perhaps they don't check at all.
I do think Care.com some some type of minimal checks on families because I occasionally get notices that the job I applied for or someone who contacted me is no longer a member of care.com community and to be careful about corresponding with them (if you've already exchanged contact info).

When someone requested one for me a couple of years ago, I received with parents first name, last initial and a message saying that a background check was requested. But when I logged into Care.com, there was nothing in messages about it. If you click on messages and look at the very top, there is a little bell icon (alerts). You have to click on that bell and then you receive the notice and link to complete the background check there. It is not intuitive at all from what I remember.
