You should be able to eliminate about half immediately from the first contact. Respond to the rest with a copy/paste section and 1-4 questions tailored to what each nanny said. There’s no reason that responding within 5 hours is too hard, if you set aside the time to sort and interview before you post the ad.

It’s not about “should”. It’s about what is. Part-time nannies are generally paid more. It just IS, PP.

College educated? $25 an hour for 1-2 kids.

Less than college: $20.

These are for childcare /teaching duties. College educated will not be interested in housekeeping, so you will be looking at an immigrant or high school grad for that aspect. They will not be able to teach the child at the level you are expecting.

DC pays less than California.

NP here. You should make the time! I took 48 hours or so to respond and all four nannies I contacted had already accepted other positions.

There is no “going rate”, OP. The hourly wage is based on education, experience, special skills and work status (ability to work on the books” as well as area of the city or country (lots of out if state posters).

Part-time is higher than full-time.

All are higher during this pandemic when daycares and schools unreliable or unsafe.

Decide what’s important to you and what you’re willing or able to pay and see what happens.

Interesting- I feel like nannies on this forum constantly talk about how the going rate is $25/ hour or more. Yet when someone posts looking for a nanny at that rate and offering what seem like standard benefits everyone calls it a scam.
