PP here - not paying double - although it's also not inexpensive.

I advertised for the job explaining duties that include cleaning, laundry, and watching my kids. Driving required.

Several people applied, we picked our favorite, she has been with my family for about 10 years.

She used to focus on nannying and playing with my kids, now she simply drives them around as they are older, she has always cleaned and sometimes cooks and does laundry.

I know it's not that common but it works for us and her and allowed us to keep her and her to keep her job for many years.

She is legal to work in the US, we pay her taxes, and we found her on DCUM.

If she was unhappy, she could have always and could still look for another job - but I think she is happy.

Are you paying double?

Oh stop everyone. You can find someone to do both, OP, who is legal.

I found someone on this nanny forum years ago - just start posting your job offer and be honest about the responsibilities.

My daughter just graduated with a degree in Psychology from College Park. She is holding off grauate school for 2 years until all this blows over, and to save money. She clearly stated on her online profile she is looking for a nanny position but no housekeeping. Her interviews and offers poured in. I love reading them.

I agree those willing to do both are probably desperate immigrants, or women with no education.

^^ and they jump at the next best offer. If you want someone to DO two jobs, then you PAY for 2 jobs.

Those who have nannies who also clean are hiring desperate women who are probably illegal.

You people are so dramatic, and so tiring. Lots of us have nannies who do housekeeping.

OP, I had luck with Care and we have moved out of the area so the agency I know down here doesn't do DC but our friends used White House years ago.

You need to decide what your priority is if your children are not old enough to self-manage distance learning. Do you want a clean home or engaged children?

If you think you can have both, expect to pay nearly double what a nanny would cost.

In your shoes, I’d hire a cleaning service and have the nanny focus on my kids.

Call Susan McCloskey at NannyPoppinz. She can and will help you find someone who is willing to do both, provided that the hours and children’s age allow it and you’re willing to pay for it.

How old are your children? If they are older it you might be able to find a hybrid but do you really expect to find someone to manage DL in the fall in addition to housekeeping? That's going to be a lot more difficult and probably very expensive (as it should be).

Nannies are not housekeepers and housekeepers are not nannies!

We are grappling with how to manage this fall with distance learning and working from home, and really need help reducing the chaos. We've had au pairs for years but our incoming one was blocked by the executive order, so we're pivoting.

We want to find a live-in nanny/housekeeper type position; I've posted on care.com and tried to network for ideas, but I'm coming up empty.

Are there good local agencies people would recommend? I can google, obviously, but I have no idea which are worth the fees.

I'd love suggestions!
