Honestly, OP, I wouldn’t be comfortable. You and your employers have to agree on a level of social distancing/isolation and both abide by it.

Have you talked to them about your concerns? Try talking first if you really like the job. But know that nannies are in such high demand you won’t have any trouble finding another position.

I totally get the trip (I would do the same), it's just not knowing 'how' many people are really there and what they've been doing in the last two weeks. Again, I've only known this family for 2 months and while I hope they would be honest, it just makes me a little nervous.

You have a point about the cleaners, I just thought as long as they wore the mask and I didn't come in close contact, it would be okay (they come once per week) but now they've been seen without mask— well at least one of them.

You cannot control what goes on in their house. Either suck it up or quit.

I've been with a family for 2.5 months now. We started this arrangement with a clear understanding that we would be practicing socially distancing and only around the members in our household with the exception of grocery store runs— and obviously mask would be worn as we live in a mandatory mask state since April. One of the parents siblings have fallen ill— not COVID related but from what he's said it's not looking good and so he's decided to travel back home— he drove, alone. While I understand and sympathize, I also have to think about my family; I have an infant and my mother who is over 60 lives with us. I know his sibling is seeking medical treatment but she also has others family members that live with her. I don't know his family and I honestly can't trust whether or not they've been social distancing. I know they are stress with everything that's going on (work, family and kids) and I hate to bring more stress but I just don't feel right returning; and this would be the second trip (to my knowledge) that he's taken back home since I started— but he still drove alone. I've also just witness the cleaners not wearing mask at their home and I'm like ugh! I know I have to do what's best for me, but what would you do in this situation?
