This is a great opportunity to just leave the program and look for alternative care. There are plenty of options. The program can have many flaws ... and it me a while to “ wake up” and realize there are option and I dis not need to despair everytime there is something happening with thr au pair.
Suggestion: leave the program now, dont settle for rematch au pairs, take the driver’s seat in regards to your child care

100% agree. If you are hoping to get a rematch or extension au pair right now, you need to be offering an amazing deal (we aren't even going to bother trying). On CC there are no currently available rematch au pairs. There are a handful of 2nd year extensions available at various points in the summer, but almost all of them are maxed out on connections.

Yet another +1. CC is so desperate, I've seen a rematch AP with an allegation of child abuse with her profile still online. I've also seen some "families were surprised AP asked for rematch and didn't come to them about any problems" that are flags for APs looking for a better deal rather than anything really wrong with their current situation. No and no. Plenty of high school and college age sitters home looking for extra money.

Do you plan on employing high school or college babysitters for the next few years? How will that work if you need 45 hours of care a week?

I am in the same situation as everyone else, I have a 2 y.o. so it is is hard to wfh. I can probably manage till December, but I am not so sure au pairs will be able to come after December because we might be having the 2nd wave of COID-19 going on and if Trump wins again, you can forget about it. The Muslim ban is still in place 3 years later.

My AP is 26 y o and turning 27 in March, I am her only chance right now and I feel really bad for her because she invested so much time, energy and money into this. If it wasn't for that I would just call it quit and figure out an alternative solution.

This is painfully obvious, but it's going to be difficult to impossible to get a refund if the agencies are headed for bankruptcy.

I am hoping for a refund for fees. They aren’t even picking up the phone today to tell us what to do next. I’m hiring a local sitter but I do want my fees back.

Our AP leaves next month, we matched with a new AP who obviously could not get a visa as the US consulate was on a gap year and now a January arrival messes that up for her plans.

Do you hope exempts APs in 30 days and proceed? If it he does not exempt APs by then I guess our AP will not come and we go back on the search....or if we have to manage on our own and it works I guess we would cancel the match anyway....so hard to plan with so many "what ifs"...anyone have a plan/formula criteria of when to give up on current match and move on or even what to say to your pending AP?

I am so frustrated....COVID was a big enough pain in the a$$ but this executive order is like kick in gut to complicate my life.
