We usually don’t tell the au pair that we will pay at the time of match, but if she had done a good job we do it as sort of a bonus.

We've always paid, except out last AuPair who was a complete disaster on all fronts.

I've typically split if 50/50 with my au pairs and made sure they knew to be saving in advance.

I've generally told my APs that they should pay their taxes if they think they might ever want to live/work in the US in the future. I'm not sure this is 100% required, but given the current environment vs immigrants in this country, it seems prudent to me to check all the boxes.

The statement above about Brazilan and Colombian au pairs is underinformed. Can't make these blanket statments.

Au pair pays, she is an adult. I’d just give some bonus money for a job well done and she can use it for taxes or shoes, whatever she wants.
