Sigh.. I understand the channels to go through. I was just looking for personal experience.

In case anyone else is in the same boat - no it is not currently possible. LCC says she is 'hopeful' a return flight home will be possible by July. If not, they can house the Au pair. I suspect I will end up in a situation with an au pair who is done her time with us (emotionally as well) and will not be able to leave.

I will of course read up on airport closures etc.. just wondering if it is possible.

Have her check with the Colombian embassy.

NP. Your best bet is probably to ask your LCC how things are going for columbian APs trying to go home, I asked similar question about Brazilian APs coming in last week and got some great pointers from my LCC. As far as I know lot of airlines are starting to operate again in July, but as PP said it doesn't mean much these days.

I'm not trying to be rude when I say this, but whether or not Colombians are going home now in May is likely irrelevant as to whether or not your au pair will have trouble finding a flight in July. A lot can change between now and then.
