If unemployment taxes were not withheld, she will be denied but she can appeal. If she is legal to work here then, ultimately, she will probably win her appeal.

You have learned a valuable lesson. Never work for anyone who doesn't withhold taxes.

Unemployment is not exactly easy to get. You have to provide a lot of documentation and there is a really long wait. Plus, states are going to run out of $ VERY quickly with so many people filing for unemployment.

You're not working? Have you filed for UE? Friends of family that can help?

No, was denied I'm appealing, no. I have friends in Arizona but everyone is having a hard time
Denied why?

I hope you are not planning to ever going back to this employer ever again.

Are you getting unemployment? With the extra 600 that should help.

Why should you be thankful? Your workload increased and your pay should be increased!

PP didn’t say that salary wasn’t increased, but did state there was a bonus.

I was not doing so well so I decreased my hours from 50 to 35 a week and it is much more manageable. My employers did not decrease my pay even though I offered. We will revisit the situation May 1st.

My employers gave me the option of paid leave but I wanted to keep working. I live alone and walk or drive to work and with my employers not seeing anyone but me we’re got a closed system. I am really happy I decided to keep working and I’m so grateful that my employers and I get along so great since we’re all in the same apartment now! I honestly enjoy their company!

What’s been hard for me is the stress I feel when I take my charge outside. People can be such idiots in terms of not social distancing on a sidewalk or path. And runners are the worst - they won’t even wear masks as the pant and spit by!! It just sets my stress-level to high as I’m so afraid my toddler will contract the virus.

How are you, OP?

Hi nannies
I was wondering how you guys are managing these tough times
Are you still working?
For the ones who are not working, are you still getting paid or receiving unemployment?
For the ones who work under the table- how have you been doing?
It’s been over a month now, and soon it will be two months, just curious to see how everybody is doing.
Also, who has been looking for new nanny jobs and how successful were you?
Thank you!
