Forever? I mean, at some point I hope she can come back to work but we'll continue paying her the same whether she's working or not.

I have paid mine since mid-March and continue to pay her.

If my employer stops paying me, I’ll first take a trip to visit family. Next I’ll quarantine myself for 2 weeks and then get a new job.

Pay her for 2 weeks. She is on her own after that.

If she's not working and not getting paid, she can file for unemployment even if the family didn't terminate her officially as basically she was terminated. But, don't expect her to come back.

This really depends on a lot of factors. It sounds like it was your choice and not your nannies to stop coming to work. If she was willing and you want her to come back as soon as we are through this, then you continue to pay her.
If you do not care if she comes back after this, then officially let her go so she can file for unemployment.
This also depends on your money coming in. Can you afford to pay?

You pay the nanny for the entire time YOU are not letting her work.

Are you talking about letting her go for good, OP? If that’s the case you give her at least one month’s severance and a good recommendation.


However if you are saying you want her to come back when this is over, you continue to pay her normal salary until this is over.

Our nanny was given the choice to stay home with full pay or continue to work and she has (thank God!) chosen to keep working.

I would pay her for as long as I refused to let her work.
