I’m in Michigan. We went from ok to third in the country in under 2 weeks. Ranked by population, were 8 (2010) or 10 (current estimate, pending complete census). Half of my family is afraid to even have track cerise’s delivered, because they’re over by Detroit and it’s really, really bad.

I’m with OP completely. Follow social distancing. No outside packaging comes inside. Clean touch points before touching. And stay home as much as possible.

Thank you for being informed. I’m not going over there anymore. Last Friday our governor put us on a stay at home order which was supposed to be stricter than shelter in place and had more rules. Come Monday she tells me took the kids to the busiest park in our city over the weekend! They don’t even live on that side of town yet she went out of her way to do so. I asked her point blank “so why did you decide that in the midst of a pandemic to take your kids to the busiest public park in town? You can’t control other staying away from you or kids they may play with that could be infected” She just stared in space like an idiot and said something about cabin fever.

Well no shit, we all have cabin fever! I take those kids in the back yard and set up pools, shaving cream car washes, water balloon obstacle courses and all sorts of things but neither of them can be bothered being creative in and out of their 7000 square feet to entertain their children for a couple of days with out me?

Their lack of staying home says to me they don’t care about my health and I’ve been calling out since. Once they let me go I will file for unemployment but hopefully my agency will be able to set me up with families that are as serious about this as I am and are REALLY sheltering in place. We have lots of people needing nannies since school is out.

Op here sorry for the delay but I came to say that you are behaving is incredibly STUPID AND IRRESPONSIBLE. Your own health isn’t all that matters. What YOU could catch from not being careful can also be passed on to someone else unknowingly and you have some nerve. You need to do some research on this virus and keep your opinions about transmission and self isolation to yourself until you are better informed.

Thank you for this and for understanding where I’m coming from. My MB is working but has been doing so remotely. Until today they switched and she went to her office and DB stayed home to work instead. She is concerned about losing her job if she isn’t more visible.

Sorry if that went over your head lol. I didn’t mean how pong is he staying at the office, the point was is he ONLY going to work and coming home or is he doing other things outside of that that we have been asked not to do in our city that isn’t considered essential. So when we discussed this I was inquiring abo it how many hours he was putting in just his whereabouts and if he’s dropping in on relatives for a visit or taking work to a co worker etc.

Now is not the time for the “good bacteria” talk. I am an experienced and educated child care provider with many years of experience and my charges get “good germs” from each other, dirt outside and many other normal places around the home. It is absolutely absurd that you would state that this is mostly spread person to person while the cdc and who are still researching this themselves and have made it clear it survives for a long time on surfaces. Not only that but it’s been revealed that it travels 27 ft, so playgrounds with others is not good. Delivery people, food industry workers and grocery people are on the front lines and are getting sick. If we get something from them that has their germs on it and don’t clean it first then yes it can be passed on. Not to mention the videos catching delivery drivers PURPOSELY putting their own salvia on packages being caught on camera, people licking poles on subways and others purposefully coughing on others. Your sign off as a nursing student means very little to me. My best friend is a nurse and is watching people die daily that don’t even know others that had it or if they got it directly from a person or surface.

There’s no way I’d stay.

And it’s starting to make me feel like they are undoing all of my caution. I was in the car with MB and the kids and she wanted to get take out for lunch. Our city currently has a shelter in place but restaurants are still doing drive thru etc. Well when we got home she allowed the kids to just start taking everything and throwing it on their plates. Yes they washed their hands first but it defeats the purpose if we don’t clean the containers and remove the food from them before hand. She also placed the bags on the counters and never wiped them down. I was the only one using disinfectant wipes on things before eating.


A week ago DB was also working from home because a co worker of his tested positive. They closed his office. Last week he was back at his office which is NOT an essential job. Mb seemed upset that he’s going but not because of exposure but because she can’t too. Smh. While she vented I asked if he was just going to his office and coming straight home and she said she doesn’t know because he comes home at different times. How can you not know!?


So they have many things delivered and ups dropped off packages the other day and my oldest charges wanted to see run out and get them. I told them no and that their parents needed to handle delivered packages and either open them outside and spray everything or bring them inside and clean it. Later when we were all about to go for a walk Mb notices the packages and lets the kids take them inside like it was nothing! She told me she was going to the grocery and if I wanted to come but after seeing this I declined and now am not sure of even being there. She also keeps taking the kids to the park like all the other jerks in their neighborhood and I had to put my foot down and tell her I refuse and the kids can play in the backyard. She seemed thrown by this but I don’t care.

Mb is in the high risk category. She only has one lung and has some vein condition. I was thinking DB was being selfish but she is being reckless with her life at this point. Or am I the one overreacting?
