Look for another job and file for unemployment. While you know how much money they have coming in, you don't know how much the mortgage and other bills they have to pay are. In this area, it can be 100k every two months easy. Sounds like she would have given you the money already, if it was nothing to them, like you make it sound. If it was so little to them, they probably could have used extra help around the house and not fired you, since both work full time from home, which is not easy at all.

Perhaps send an email, so you have your conversation in writing for whatever you decide? I would just send a follow up email and letting her know it is unclear what their plans are; either you get paid for 2 weeks (do you have PTO remaining and is it accrued or given all at once?) or unfortunately, you will have to seek other options (that’s all you need to say don’t mention anything about unemployment, another job, etc). They definitely can’t expect to just call you whenever to come and work and not seek other opportunities without some type of retainer fee. Personally, after providing a service to a family after 11 years and this is how they act, I’d get the 2 week pay and find another family. There’s a lot of people showing their true colors during this time and to do so to those who have taken care of your children, is wrong. Sorry, op.

And a few times in those 11 years the mom left her quarterly salary paper from
Work laying around on the counter and by accident I saw it, thinking it was the kids homework
That happened maybe 2/3 times and it’s not like I was looking for it
I’m addition to that I know the dad works in finances making deals
So if you know what kind of job titles they have, and you look for your area where you live, you can about guess what they make
And I went on the dads jobs website where he posted about the $2 trillion stimulus bill
And you nannies should check it out

Telling me how he has to lay off a lot of people, yes, so they can get unemployment , you can’t just tell them to not ask for unemployment and not pay them


So back to my question, knowing the family is well off and I know it’s not my business, but at some point, I’m sure every nanny wants to be treated fairly,
Knowing this family has a lot of money
What should I do? Take any money they offer now, and quit or stick it out till they call me back and not do anything, like they’re asking me

File for unemployment, find a new job. You don't have a job at this point and time to move on. They are saying they cannot afford to pay you. Make sure get it in writing via text or email for unemployment.

So I was wondering if You guys could help me out pls.
I’m working fir a family who’s pretty well off, they’re not billionaires, but the parents make a very good income.
This only matters because of my questions.
So they told me they don’t want me to work for them right now, which I said I totally understand and respect, but I’d like to get at least two weeks pay (social distancing money) from them, if they can, so that I can cover some of my bills for the month of April.
At first they ignored me for a week, I asked what’s going on and if I’m being paid or am I having a job...
Eventually they said they can’t pay me for every week if this keeps going on, I said I understand, not what I’m asking for.
To make a story short. Talked to the mom on the phone and she’s telling me how she’s upset about me asking them for money,....
Mind you, they’re both still working from home. Apparently the dads salary got reduced, but she’s the one still working and she makes 80% of their income, I know for fact. She was very rude and yelling at me how I’m attacking her....
I’m like how am I attacking you? I simply asked what my job future is and if I’m being paid because we have a 52 weeks agreement.
And she’s also asking me if I’ll stay with them and come back whenever we are allowed to be working again.
This she asked because I’m sure she won’t pay me if I tell her I’m leaving, and she doesn’t want to fire me so they don’t have to pay me severance.
Basically, she’s putting me on the back burner, no pay no nothing, but expects me to come back in two months....not getting another job.
Oh and she ended by saying she didn’t have time to stay in touch, only an occasional how are you is enough.
She will talk to husband and tell me what’s going on, if I’m getting any money or not. I mean at one point I was almost ok taking 2 weeks pay, losing 6 weeks pay.

I’ve been working for them for more than 11 years with guaranteed pay. So it’s not like I’m there only for two weeks.
So do you guys think I overreacted, I’m asking too much??? I simply wanted to know where I stand.
I mean if they don’t want to pay me for 8 weeks, I’ll either get unemployment or look for another job, I can’t afford sitting at home and not getting paid.
In 2 months they probably made at least 100k, and I made 0. But if I want unemployment, don’t they need to fire me first or something? Can I just go and file without them firing me? I’m all confused, I guess with all the stress I can’t think right
