Those with financial stability will, in my opinion, turn more to nanny care when this is over since the daycares proved unreliable. All the parents I know who are working from home now with young kids out of daycare (but still paying for daycare) are rethinking getting a nanny.

And older nannies who are single and live alone will be the hottest commodity!

Online tutoring now and in person tutoring later. Kids are going to be so behind.

Yep, MB here and I pay my nanny for long hours even though we don’t always use them. I do this so I never have to feel bad about working late.

I am not a live-in nanny, but I can relate. I was being paid full-time while my 3 charges were in school, and was free to use school time for personal use (assuming my work was done and knowing that I was “on call” at all times).

Now, my job is way harder and it definitely FEELS like my hours doubled, since I’m now with kids all day/every day instead of for a half hour in the morning and a few hours each afternoon.

I realize this is why my employers chose to keep full-time help even after all kids were in school, but dang if it hasn’t been a huge shock to my routine!

^^ You need to gather up your things and leave at your regular designated time. How did that stop happening?

You should discuss this with your employer. If your hours doubled then so should your wages!

Fewer families will need/be able to afford nannies, so fewer nanny jobs. Just like the rest of the economy.

Yes, schools being closed should mean more families will need childcare but with the economic downturn parents could be losing their jobs in which case they won’t need childcare at all.

Is that means more jobs for nannies?
Or mostly nannies losing jobs ( since the employer are not willing to afford anymore)
