It’ll be okay, OP. You love her and I’m sure she loves you and your kids.

You’ll be able to be true friends now. I’m very close to all but one of my former employers and see them frequently. It’s a very loving and powerful bond to have stood side-by-side with another woman both loving your child. There are stories and “remember when...” that only you and your nanny know.

And soon you’ll get to hold her baby!

I’m sorry, OP. I know it’s sad. She was an indelible part of your child’s life.

But you’ll remain in each other’s lives and she’ll hopefully have an ongoing relationship with your child.

That’s so nice of you, you sound so sweet! There’s nothing more rewarding for a nanny knowing the family she works for loves and respects her and her work. God bless! I wish there were more family bosses like you out there.

OP again, and I just realized, this being DCUM, I should have mentioned that she's still getting her full pay, and the planned maternity pay.

She's due in a month, and I didn't want to risk her being here. It felt so sudden and it just hit me like a wall. I was weepy all day.

I know we'll see her again after all this is over, but it just feels like such a loss right now.
