It depends where your AP home country is. My LCC told me for those who already had a visa, unless things change they will be able to come (i.e. State department has not officially changed anything yet) but in some countries the U.S. embassies are closed so there is no chance those APs will come (in may) as they still need visa etc. Just email your LCC and see what she says. Things are changing rapidly though...

Our LCC told us that European APs should start arriving again in July.

The state department has made ZERO indication that this will be happening.

The AuPair program is an small element of the j1 visa program. I see absolutely zero chance of exchange students being allowed entry this summer.

Lol, no. Not in 2020.

No, of course not. But another 30 day delay is very different from 90, 120 or indefinite termination.

State originally delayed au pair arrivals until May 11. This is going to get delayed again, isn’t it? We’ve heard nothing from anyone about our au pair who was supposed to be here last month.

Will your AP have to quarantine when she get home? If so, I wonder if some AP's would stay if the visas were extended (as driver's licenses were today).

I’m not sure, but even if she does need to quarantine, she will happily do so. Her fear right now is that her flight will be cancelled and she will have to stay. She misses her family a lot.

I just got a message from CC this morning.

This is what I got from APC:

Dear Host Families and Au Pairs,

As information continues to rapidly change relating to COVID-19, AuPairCare is working to ensure we are following the guidelines of the CDC and the Department of State. We understand this is a challenging time for host families and au pairs in our community. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted and we want to assure you that the health, safety and welfare of all program participants is our top priority.

Recent communications from the Department of State advised sponsors to institute a 60-day temporary suspension on new overseas arrivals. Therefore, AuPairCare has postponed all scheduled arrivals before May 10th, and our next overseas arrival date will be a May 14th Virtual Academy arrival.

This is 13:51.. our (hopefully) future AP just sent an email indicating that CC contacted her and indicated that the US Embassy won't grant visas until at least May ... so at least they are sending some communications somewhere ...

Makes sense. I can imagine their phones and email are flooded. Lots of APs trying to get out. Some rematches. Big ass unchartered mess.
