Normally moving in would pose a lot of problems but these are extraordinary times. If it works for both families go for it. You may end up doing some more work but guess what? As MB, I would not want my nanny moving in either, eating my food, going through pantry. I enjoy my family time and privacy and control over my house as much as the nanny who may not want to wash an extra dish here, work another hour here. If both families need each other, rely on each other, go forth with good heart. Both sides need to go in expecting to give in a little more in order for it to work out. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.

If the lockdown continues for 6 weeks or so, many nannies and nanny families are going to be hit hard as not too many households can continue paying for regular childcare PLUS temporary care when regular isn't available. It's a bad situation all around, for nannies as well as parents.

Our preschool has closed for three weeks. I can luckily afford to keep paying preschool fees as well as the costs of temporary care but I know that if this continues, people will start asking for refunds and pulling children out. It's simply unaffordable for many. This pandemic will bankrupt more people than it will kill.

Get financial aspects in writing prior to moving in and make it worth your while. No measley $10/more an hour and charge OT. Personally, I think you are crazy for doing this as it will not be appreciated and they will expect you to be their maid.

Wow because I’m in a nanny share and I have a 5 year old daughter my families gave me 2 weeks off plus pay. I believe they still have to work also but they never asked me to live with them..... That’s going to be annoying very quick but they should definitely be paying you especially if you’re working but even if you weren’t working they shouldn’t be threatening you saying you won’t to have a job if you take the time off and the bottom line is it’s not worry about our health and being safe
