The scenario you are suggesting is scary

Um, this is the reality right now. School, day cares and work are closed. People are being told to stay home and not go out. Many work places have cancelled all domestic travel through the rest of the month and international travel through May. Any people are being told by doctors not to fly domestic unless it’s really really necessary (like life and death necessary).

Well, the friends can’t come now, due to trump’s travel ban. We talked with her about postponing her domestic trip because I think there’s a real risk of them changing the travel ban to everywhere and if she got stuck she’d be on her own. We have told her it’s her decision at this point but we hope she will be smart about it. We offered to pay any change fees and find another time she can go. She’s going to talk about it with her friend and decide. I really hope she cancels.

It wouldn't bother me. However loudoun just closed for the week and DH and I work remotely so we are talking about renting a house in Florida next week. Doing Saturday-Saturday in Siesta Key or thereabouts.

+1, if the friends are staying with you, you should say No. My sister was coming in April from Europe and we have now cancelled it. If they are not staying with you, there is nothing you can do. About her own trip, can you maybe pay for her fees to rebook the flight? That is what I am planning to offer my AP who has a similar planned trip for Disneyland in April, because I am assuming losing money will be her biggest motivation to go.

She’s going to a place that has fewer cases than where we live, but seems like air travel is more of an unknown risk at this point.
