I'm sorry you and your son are going through this, OP. I can completely find someone to help for 2-3 days from 9/10-2/3. You will likely have to guarantee the hours and pay a higher rate to find someone dependable, since it's only about 15 hours per week. Agree with PP who said to find someone who has experience working with kids with anxiety or emotional health. During the hiring process, just let them know what you need consistent care and ask if there are other commitments that would get in the way. Most people who hire PT nannies have back up plans for other times. I'd also ask if the person is comfortable driving you car for transportation.

I think either a sahm or a Nanny for school age children would be interested in doing this. Sounds like a great way to earn some extra money.

I think you would be fine to hire 9-2. There are a lot of afterschool jobs, but unless those families are paying for availability they can’t expect and assume that their afternoon-only nanny will be free during school hours. I would try to schedule it for Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, if possible since the vast majority of random school holidays (president’s day for example) are on Monday. Fridays are probably the runner-up. So that would enable her to still be on call for a lot of those hours a family would need during the school year, which will make it easier for her to juggle to families and more likely that she’ll be reliable.

My child has severe anxiety. We are currently going through the process of finding a new school for him. It’s a long process though. In the meantime, I’ve gotten him enrolled in a number of homeschooling enrichment classes. The classes are not academic and not co-op. The nanny will just need to drive and wait. I would like to hire this person for 2-3 days a week from 9/10am-2/3pm.

My concern is that this person might have a morning or afternoon position. Do people that hire morning/afternoon care look to them to help on early release days or school closed days? Unless it’s a significant snow event that really shuts the city down, my kids activities and therapies will still go on. Is this something I need to inquire about when I’m interviewing or is this a non issue?

Also, can this person use my car to transport my son around down?
