If your nanny makes $1,000 in any calendar quarter, then you need workers' comp in MD. You can be fined up to $10,000 for lack of coverage. If your employee gets hurt on the job, you're on the hook for medical costs, lost wages, etc. Check with GTM Payroll Services. They do workers comp for household employers. It may not be that much.
