They probably didn't tell you because clef lip palate surgeries are not a big deal. I was born with a clef lip palate and have had 16 surgeries since birth and 2 nose jobs. They were not a big deal even for me. They don't have to tell you every thing either.

The parents have a lot of worries on their mind right now. They have probably talked about it with a lot of people and probably thought they told you already. They definitely should have told you being that it will affect your schedule. But I would not take it personally and would give them a pass on this one.

You guys are so bitter.
It’s a legit question.

Not the OP.

+1
It’s so unnecessary to be mean-spirited when someone asks a legitimate question.
If you do not have anything meaningful to add, then best to keep scrolling down.

You are not a 3rd parent.

+1. Give the parents a free pass on this one, OP.

I'm guessing it's just an oversight by stressed and worried parents, OP. Don't take it personally.

I still look after him now.
It just would have been nice to know in advance so I knew what was happening nannying schedule wise and because they know he is important to me.

OP.

Unless you were directly involved in any part of the pre or post op care, why on earth would you need to know before others? Yes, you are being sensitive...and self-centered.

Of course you're being over-sensitive. It sounds like he's your FORMER charge. Perhaps the parents are busy thinking about you know ....their son's upcoming surgery!

Yes they should have told you but maybe they're just lost and scared because of that operation and are too stressed to talk about it ?

Looked after charge for 4 years and supported him through his parents separation.
He had a cleft palate at birth and it was operated on a few months after his birth. He now needs to have another operation.
It seems I am the last to know about it which does hurt. His parents said nothing about it and it does hurt when everyone else seems to know.
Am I just being oversensitive?
