I sort of agree but I have all the finger paintings my kids did as toddlers and find them adorable.

OP, cut out a heart and make a hand print. Write: "This was the hand you used to hold when I was 15 month old." Guaranteed tear jerker for decades and mom will remember who arranged this.

The point is most women with a heart love what their babies and grand babies make for them. It has great meaning to them.

It has the same meaning that anything they do for mom/Grandma does. If the child is verbal and says it’s “special” it has more meaning. But it honestly comes down to whether they’re the kind of adult who values toddler art.

For that age you should cut out hearts and heart stickers and let your toddler stick them on card stock with a glue stick. Let him choose the hearts and put them anyplace he wants. It’s pretty cute because they always want to clump them together.

I’m also going to let my same-age charge pick a bouquet of flowers for his mom with neighbors’ permission. (We’re in LA - lots of flowering bushes).

MB here. I love the stuff my baby “makes” for me! I love that nanny goes to the trouble every birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas!

Get an apron or a canvas bag and do hand/footprints on it.

Pick out something with a large-ish open surface. Let the child “paint” with their hands on it or do handprints. I’d suggest something with a very, very basic border, that can be painted in under 5 minutes, after you get the toddler cleaned up and playing with a toy in the stroller. Put the child’s name and the date on the back.

They’ll fire them and you can pick up a week later.

I’m stumped for something new my charge can make his mother and grandparents for Valentine’s Day. We do paintings every week so another painting is nothing special.
