I found this gem. Maybe it’ll help? Supposed, it’ll make withholding more accurate. IMO, it’s going to contribute to less employers of domestic workers willing to deal with the rigamarole on their own.

It looks to me like she needs to do the worksheet for 4b, since that’s really the only way to decrease deductions.

However, I know that employers only have to withhold fica. You can choose to withhold federal and state, but you can also leave it up to your employee.

Call irs and double check.

Heh. Yes thank you. I have the form and read through the questions. But it doesn't tell me how not to withhold less than the standard deduction.

We are hiring a nanny for my youngest, above board with taxes, W2, OT etc. The first nanny for our oldest wanted us to withhold appropriate taxes for her and filled out her W4 accordingly. So that was easy and we did that and then paid our employer portions etc.
this new nanny does not want federal and state taxes withheld as she and her dh file estimated quarterly together since he has a small business. I'll still do fica and SS as I must. But the W4 forms have changed for 2020 and I'm not sure how to fill it out to not take any federal or state taxes. Anyone have advice?
