Did you find a handbook? If not, if you will send me an address I will send you mine. I am on my 8th au pair (considering a 9th).

We did not put together a handbook and I wish we did. We definitely went the path of being a little too laid back and a bit regretful on that. Thinking of putting one together as we approach the 5 month mark. I highly recommend doing so!

I’d ask someone you know in real life. This is an anonymous forum so unlikely to email you.

Make sure you have contact numbers, safety info (911, poison control, drs info, where are fire extinguishers located,etc.), drivers license requirements, car usage rules and insurance info, phone usage rules, internet usage rules, guest policy (in town and out of town), sick policy, vacation policy, kids school info, work schedule, pay schedule, smoking/drinking rules, kids rules - allowed snacks, screen time, etc., kid related chores, room/bathroom rules (must be kept clean, no food storage, etc. ). Rules about when she needs to notify you of things (like taking kids out, kids get injured etc).

You should include details about what she should be doing during work hours. For example, morning routine and afternoon routines, or suggested schedule. Known activities, etc.

Hi everyone- OP here. Thanks for your feedback. I have looked at Aupairmom but was hoping to see some additional local examples. We did include extensive/important information about the most asked rules (cars,guests,schedule,chores) in our CCAP application profile but I’m sure there are a lot of other items we should include. +1, I created the handbook after I had matched with my first AP. I gave it to her the day she arrived. She read it and never broke any rule. Tbh, most APs don't even read them until they get to your house. I gave my current AP the handbook during matching and I am sure she didn't read it or she didn't understand 80% of its content. Most of the time they will ask you questions that are important to them during matching. And yes Aupairmom has a handbook and APC also have a handbook template I can sent to you if you like.
