So I realize this sounds completely bizarre but hear me out ...
I booked with a nanny who branded herself as a professional. She charges $25/hr. I had sent her an email with my daughters schedule and the hours I needed. She seemed like a great fit so I scheduled her for a 4 day trial period.
Then, today and yesterday, she cancelled 30 minutes prior to her shift because of weather and not feeling safe driving. It was too short notice for me to call any of my backup sitters so I had to call out of work and my husband had to leave work early. It was a huge inconvenience for us.
She just sent me a request on Venmo for the days she cancelled. In my sample contract I stated we do not pay for days the nanny cancels her shift and she has to utilize vacation or PTO, none of which she has accrued since technically she hadn’t even started. But she’s stating it’s within her policy (which she did not send ME!) that she requires payment.
Wtf. I kind of want to tell her to kick rocks.
