Invite the AP and her mom to have dinner with you? Rather than confronting the AP about it, I would just take the higher ground and be welcoming.

Especially weird is that this anti-family feeling is coming from the south American AP and family. I would definitely say that AP has been complaining to her mom. She doesn’t want Mom to know she was complaining about very little, and she doesn’t want you to know that she was complaining to her mom.

No way. Sit your ap down and tell her this is not ok. Her mom (or any guest) cannot stay in your home without a proper introduction. That is unacceptable.

No, she (the mom) did not do thse things.

This is odd, OP. Our APs always introduces us to their family members when they came to visit and wanted to make sure we all spent time together as one big family.

Our AP's mom is here now (she arrived Friday evening). It's been....strange. AP has not tried to introduce us to her mom yet, so we just happened to see them and I introduced myself before they scurried away. We try to talk to the mom, but AP seems to rush her off, almost as if she does not want us to speak (I speak their native language so it's not a language barrier issue). I get that your mom is in town and you haven't seen her in a long time, but I do think it's incumbent upon the AP and the mom to at least try to be friendly to the host parents who are opening up their home to a family member.
