I worked for a family for three years. We were very close. I would give them (including the extended family on both sides) Christmas gifts.
I would receive gifts from them (for any reason) thought the year. No money that I spent will ever pay all they did for me. I have been with a new family for a year now. I got Christmas gifts for the kids. And a framed nice pictures (of the kids) for the parents. Will they like it? Who knows? I’ll do it anyway. It’s my personality.
With my former family, I knew that even though they didn’t need anything, they were so happy to get something from me. If I was on vacation they would wait until I come back to open gifts together. But you know, It’s one in a million family. A unicorn family.

Our nanny gives my kids insane gifts (~$100) for their birthdays and for Christmas. And she buys them little presents throughout the year too. It is what it is, and we graciously accept- my asking her to stop has made zero difference over the years!

Kids only and something simple.

Help the kids make something to give to their parents.

Always only for your charges. Nannies should never give Christmas or birthday gifts to their employers.

MB here. Actually, I prefer my nanny not give my kids OR us a gift.

My kids get enough - I don't want them to be too spoiled. And gifts in the workplace should flow DOWN, never UP.
