Gross up her hourly and let her handle her own tax/financial situation. If you take her to $18/hr that would probably result in her netting somewhere in the neighborhood of $15/hr.

If you pay her more, she owes more taxes... Always negotiate gross numbers.

About $2-3 per hour extra. It all depends on her allowance number. A single person will pay more in taxes than a family of 4
