Depends on the family.

Overall:
1. Log book to see long term trends
2. Dropbox or thumb drive for all pictures/video, depending on family preference
3. Texts for notifications and questions needing immediate answers
4. Calls for emergencies
5. Emails for longer questions/answers
6. FaceTime/Skype for kids to have video contact if parent will not be home during waking hours
7. Verbal recap lasts 30 seconds to 15 minutes depending on family and how many days Employer was gone

I’ve never used a nanny app. Most of my families want to limit their kids’ information being available electronically, so even google calendar doesn’t have names, just a color per person and initials combined with default color if it involves multiple kids.

Texts with pictures throughout the day and a recap verbally at the end of the day. If the child isn't feeling well, she will take their temperature and send me a pic of the reading. Etc.

MB texts me ALL DAY EVERY DAY and most of the time has nothing to do with the kids. Drives me batty!

Tell mom things at end of day(not allowed phone at work)...dad works from home. I send pics occasionally.

Because everyday is the same. Pick-up from school at 1 pm, lunch, nap, park, clean up etc.

MB and I email all day long. When she gets home, I leave within 30 seconds. It’s so great! She gets to be with the kids, I get to leave and no chit-chat!

Group text between DH, me and Nanny. DH answers. I rarely do.

One of my employers and I shared an app recording nap times, feeding, and diaper; another had a log and we wrote in everything. But most employers just want a verbal recap in approximations (how he ate, if he pooped).

I send pics occasionally but no other communication now.

After almost 3 yrs caring for her son, MB told me no pictures no text. If I need something just tell them before I left the house.

Sometimes I will send pictures. I’ll text if it’s something serious. Unless they ask about our day or feedings I leave when my shift is over. I tend to work with more relaxed families.

Do you text photos and updates? Do you jot down when the baby slept and when/what she ate? Do you just give a verbal recap at the end of the day? Do you use an app to keep in touch (i.e. Nannynotes)?
