I would let her go. This is behavior you might briefly tolerate from a well-meaning family member who is caring for your children for free. Not from a professional child care giver. There are better options. I would have fired immediately upon discovering my caregiver sleeping in a rocker with my baby. Huge risk to your child.

Whether she agrees w/your way of doing things or not, as your employee she needs to follow your instructions.

If she refuses - then yes, send her on her merry way & find a good, solid replacement stat.

Like another poster mentioned, imagine what she will do when you return back to work + she is left to work alone!

Troll. If she was highly recommended by former employers then she did not do these things and if she didn't do them then, she isn't going to do them now!

She is endangering your child’s life. She is not listening to you. She is deliberately disobeying you. She needs to go right now.

Definite red flag. Not only does she not listen to you when you make a direct request, she thinks your directives are wrong. And this is when you’re home, OP. Imagine how she will work her will when you aren’t around!

I’m sorry and I know it sucks, but you need to start looking for a new nanny.

She always seems concerned and acts like she is listening but then it happens again . Like this morning we had a long talk about SIDS and blankets and then she placed my infant in the pack n play accessory with a blanket wrapped around him again and turned away to play with my toddler . I noted to her we discussed this morning not using blankets and she said well it’s cold and you don’t need to be so nervous . It kind of seems like a red flag to me .

How does she respond when you correct these things? That would color how I'd proceed.

We hired a new nanny and she came highly recommended by the family who had her before us .
She is very kind to my kids which I appreciate greatly and often helps around the house since I’m home on maternity leave and have to feed the baby often .
I’m a little concerned because it seems she is not up to date on infant safety guidelines .
I caught her holding my 2 month old in a rocking chair and doZing off. I confronted her about it and she apologized and then I caught her doing it two more times while reading my 2 year old a story after she came home from school.
She also continues to put blankets around my infant in the pack n play , the crib etc . I explained how this is a no-no when it comes to SIDS risk but it continues to happen along with her draping a blanket over the crib to block light out !?
I explained we have a sleep sack that is safe to use and she can just close the blinds to block out sunlight .
I’m not sure whether I should continue with her or not . Would love the advice of other parents and nannies .
