I actually hate gift cards. Perhaps I am unusual but they are so impersonal and generally to a store or restaurant I don’t frequent. My former employer always gave me amazon gift cards which are the worst and most thought-free.
Don't you think you should be more grateful. It's a nice gesture; its not their responsibility. You can find ANYTHING on Amazon. What is your problem?

Does she like to read? A subscription to a magazine maybe...
A food of the month club for some period of time. (I've done cheese, ice cream, beer, breakfast, soup of the months... for 3 to 12 months at a time.)

My favorite gifts are a gorgeous wallet, a leather bag (cosmetic bag) with my name embossed on it, a picture frame with “I love my nanny” on it and a photo of my charge and me, and a bracelet with “thank you for helping me grow” inscribed inside.
I am an older nanny (64) and wouldn’t like a sweater or article of clothing (except the mittens and scarf which is a sweet idea).
