So you aren’t a nanny, were a SAHM without a nanny, don’t have a nanny and have contempt for mothers who work and do have nannies... and you’re on a nanny and employer forum... but you aren’t a troll?

And you missed the point of OP’s post. As a mother I have been truly blown away by how much babies/children learn in the first three years. It’s lovely to have a nanny articulate it.

As a nanny, it still blows me away.

You start with this tiny being who can’t hold up his head or even see more than a few inches and within just one year he’s an autonomous creature who learned how to crawl and walk. In one year to go from only sucking to feeding himself - with definite likes and dislikes. Added to the fact that he figured out the very concept of language and then came to understand virtually every single word I say and even talk back. That in just one year, he went from this tiny thing to a child whom I can say, “where’s the green boat?” And he toddles over, gets the free boat and holds it up to show me.

My charge is exceptionally bright on top of it, but with all my former charges the first year is truly an amazement.

This is why I am a nanny. What a privilege to be a part of this first year!
