This is a ridiculous statement! it is not like it is $20! This is one week of AP stipend! I would ask it back and take it out of her stipend if she doesn't give it back (it will also depend on how she reacts, if she is nice about it I might just take $100). AP who wont match with you because of this are the ones you should have avoided anyway!

I would put together a letter with exhibits showing you gave her money and when and showing credit against stipend. I did this when my au pair got a speeding ticket towards the end of her year. No complaints from au pair or LCC.

Remind her she owes you money and don't pay her until you get your money back. She should have given it back anyway way before now.

You loaned your AP $200 and did not mention anything about it nor discuss a payback plan, and now that you’re in re-match you want the money back?

I do not think that my LCC would get involved or let me withhold her stipend because of this. I would look at this as a “lesson learned”, and not offer to loan money again.

Also, $200 to open an account is extremely high.

sorry but why didn't you take it right away from her stipend? do you still own her the last week of stipends]? take it from there! Of course you should ask her but I think you can forget about seeing your money again unless you can take it from stipend. I think you screwed up by never mentioning it again, now she going to think it was a gift and you are asking it back because you are bitter, which tbh sounds at little bit like to to me. Good luck!

You should have taken a small amount out of her stipend until it was paid back.

AP arrived in August.
When we went to bank to open account she didn’t have enough money to open the account.
I loaned her cash to open it and she said she would pay me back.
Still hasn’t and now we are in rematch.

Is it OK for me to remind her that she owes me the money before she goes?
