Are there any community centers that the family might be willing to join? Lots of them are inexpensive (we’re part of an excellent one in lower Manhattan for only $100/month!) and an excellent way to make friends for both nanny and charge.

I met a few good friends (moms and nannies) at classes. Music Together.
