Have you spoken to the agency? I cannot imagine any clause that would legally require you to owe money, but I can understand not wanting to be banned from the agency. I would do as PP suggested and not leave and be direct in telling them why. It actually is dangerous to treat people that way; what makes you think that you cannot be harmed but someone who is tired of being treated like garbage. Keep us updated please.

They should be mortified + ashamed what their kids said.
If those were my boys - I likely would have apologized to you for being in such a shameful situation.

Don't take the kids out in public. I don't know what EBF week is, but are these people from a country other than the US? In some countries things that are an insult here are not an insult there.
Regardless, don't take them out in public. If they or the parents ask why, tell them "People get shot and killed for doing that here. It's not a joke, and I can't seem to impress that upon your children." Also, to CYA, tell the agency what happened and how you're handling it.

I’m a travel nanny and booked with a family traveling to DC for EBF week (so I get to stay close to home).
Day 2 and I take the boys (4&6) to the children’s museum and the older boy calls a black the a racial slur and the younger child joins in... I’m mortified, apologize to the parents of the child, and we leave because they thought it was hysterical and wouldn’t stop or apologize.
I immediately contact the parents and the dad says, “we’ll, we’re they?”
Shocked. He kind of backtracked but I’ve never wanted to quit on the spot before.
