$1000 for 30 hours, no. But op, $30 is definitely low and you can’t even drive to pick up your kid, although, your friends? I would tell her your demands as a mother have change and it’s things you need to do during the day. You don’t mind taking the baby but you need your car and was thinking of this is going to be a 6 months to a year commitment, we need to discuss a different rate. Hell, daycare charges at least $65 per day. I’m assuming your paid in cash, so I would at least ask for somewhere around $200 per week. If she want to act like a boss rather than a friend helping her, I would be hourly, charge $15-18 an hour and have PTO.

Please quit, if mom is low income the county will pay her for daycare.

Hard no. For $30 a day you are doing her a favor. Baby tags along with anything you do. You don't sit at home. She provides a car seat and stroller.

She will pay a daycare more than she's paying you. She's paying you less than minimum wage. Just quit. Don't ask for more money.

If she is paying that low a rate, she really doesn't get to dictate that you don't get to drive with her baby. Seriously.

If you're just making your other children food, or taking care of other things, can you wear her in a sling or other carrier?

As for why the baby is crying, you need to sit down with the mom and explain to her that you can't continue to keep her baby because she cries for many hours a day and you're just not able to meet her needs. It's just not working out for either you or the baby, and the mom needs to find another arrangement. I'm sorry.

Yes, she is absolutely underpaid and should negotiate a higher rate.

However, who gives a rat's ass how much you pay your nanny? Both the "nanny" and the mother are probably in a different situation than you are.

Up your nanny's rate to $1500 a week.

I have to agree that for $30/day, you are getting way underpaid.

And for a baby who you cannot drive & who cries a lot, etc. it actually sounds like a nightmare.

Let the Mother know that you absolutely need to be paid more money to watch this little girl.
A minimum of ten dollars an hour would be fair.

And you will need to do some day driving, so she needs to provide you w/a car seat.
If she cannot agree to this, then let her find a home daycare or a nanny share situation.

Good luck to you.

No. 1. You are GROSSLY UNDERPAID.

NO.2. STOP. she is too much trouble. Let her mother hire a nanny who can hold her all day.

Your chili are being neglected.

If she is a low income Mom and you dont " need"the extra money I think what you are doing is really nice. If she is taking advantage of you though then you need to say something.
I would also bring up the driving. You can say you are happy to watch Larla but you need to get your kid from gymnastics. You can take Larla or she can make other arrangements.

Not sure what to say about the crying, is she like that with her Mom?

That's what everyone tells me, I really was just trying to help her out but I think I bit off more than I can chew. My husband thinks i should stop watching her.

Any tips on how to ask for more $?

You are really underpaid, I mean for $30/day you need to have a zero maintenance baby and you don’t. $3/hr?! No. She needs a nanny and that will be $30/hr.

I want to add, I didn't go into that much detail to mom, just that I needed an extra day since baby needs more entertainment. I just don't want her mom to think I'm saying her baby is difficult, since she is a new mom, I don't wanna step on her toes. She told me she has had those days 2 so any advice on what I can do to help would be great. I don't wanna tell her I can't watch her anymore but at this point, even after 2 kids of my own, idk what to do. I never encountered anything like this before.
