I matched at CC within a week. In August. I did a lot of screening, wrote a detailed profile, and connected with five people total.

Two of them flaked before our first Skype date. Out of the other three, we moved to the next round with two. We had three calls with each of them and would have happily matched with either. It was very hard to choose, but we ultimately went with the one who could arrive sooner.

They seem to be adding people often. You only need one good match.

We switched to Au Pair Care and I am so glad we did!

I personally find the pool at CCAP to be much less impressive and professional than APIA.

Also saw that APs and HFs are now limited to three connections each, which is back to where they were before I think.

I wish there were a way to get on a wait list or something. But I get that the AP were feeling overwhelmed.

OP here. Thanks for the replies.

I saw a new candidate on CC's website yesterday who I knew was new because she had not shown up in my search that morning. I sent her a connection request and then it said "maxed out". Craziness!

Very labor intensive, I set my search parameters and see who looks new each day. You learn to remember their photos! Be a little more open minded than you might be used to - feels like a sellers market because the good ones get lots of interest. I find our "matching specialist" useless - she basically just does the same search I do.

If they are "interviewing with several families" it seems to mean you have no shot. If they are at maximum, try again latter.

There's no real difference in that you can't contact either. Yes you search everyday to see who is available. The new system is a PITA.

We have been with APIA but are expanding our search to Cultural Care now given the low number of candidates in the pool for December/January.

What is the deal with CC's au pair search/interviewing process? Is there a good strategy? There are a couple of profiles that I like, but they say: "maxed on connections" or "interviewing several families". What is the difference? And do you just search everyday to see if someone is now available to connect or if there are new profiles for your search criteria?

Thanks!
