I’m salaried. If I pay her for hours she doesn’t work does that mean I don’t have to pay if she stays late? That’s what my boss does.
Then quit and get a real job.

You think salaried jobs aren’t “real” jobs?

Are you the OP? Nannies are hourly employees, therefore not salaried. It is extremely common for nannies to have guaranteed hours based on the nature of the job. With retail hourly jobs, there is someone else to call of the employee cannot work. With nannies, you want (need) them to guarantee the time to you and not say, “oh, next week I will be working for a family traveling through; the pay is very high. See you the week after next!” They guarantee their time to you and you guarantee payment 52 weeks per year. You should really look at the cost of employing a nanny as part of your annual budget and not try to make sure you’re getting every penny’s worth of time.

No, I am not OP, but the analogizing to OP’s job is stupid. If her contract with her nanny has guaranteed hours she surely knows it.

I don’t think they are real. No one is this clueless and stupid.

Plus a lot of old threads are being replied to; I think someone is bored.

We're going for a vacation and my question is should I pay my nanny the entire time we're away on vacation? She is our full-time nanny.
